Násilím proti násilí
Divadlo in-yer-face
- Andrea Hoffmannová
The book concentrates on the topic of contemporary British theatre tradition of the nineties - in-yer-face theatre. It introduces in-yer-face in its historical, social, artistic and literary background. The following chapters are aimed at the main representatives - Mark Ravenhill, Sarah Kane and Martin McDonagh. A brief introduction to the biographies and works of these playwrights is accompanied by an analysis of particular works. The detailed analysis focuses on the depiction of violence, of which we are witnesses almost every day as well as we are reluctant and ignorant to it. The thesis opposes the common negative criticism of violence depicted in these works that perceives the violence as an arbitrary and first-plan way of getting the public interest.
