Poetry as a learning task
Results of a longitudinal intervention study
- Jaroslav Vala
The publication presents the results of the longitudinal intervention study aimed to verify the effectiveness of teaching poetry in experimental classes in comparison with control classes (respondents aged 12-15). Author describe in this way the relationship of young learners to poetry and how its teaching may influence the choice of appropriate teaching methods a sensitive approach to individual interpretations of young learners. Targeted experimental activities can help change persistent state of perception of poetry as something idealized, inaccessible, or refused, ridiculed, unnecessary. The aim of teaching poetry is not a situation in which everyone takes it and they become its passionate readers. It is important that the students should not feel shyness and fear.
